Looking at the stages of decay of a white rose - documenting though the use of photography. Over the last few weeks I have been documenting the white rose as it decays and gradually dies, watching it lose its life over a period of time. For about a week they stayed the same apart from some of them opened up.- they were so beautiful, so delicate and pure - just like when a human life begins. Afterwards, they began to deteriorate, changing colour, becoming crispy and losing their life force. I plan to use these as an observation tool to produce a series of paintings - using a monochromatic palette, of white to resemble innocence and purity, like the beginning of life, and black to resemble dark things such as death, life coming to an end. |
